These surfaces require periodic broom sweeping to keep the fibers upright, and water-rolling to keep the sand level. Real grass putting greens are very expensive to construct and maintain. They require almost daily mowing and watering; they need frequent fertilizing, veticutting, winter overseeding, aerating, and an occasional application of sand and top dressing. You need a special expensive tiff style mower to cut the blades of grass short enough to putt. This is why most home owners, due to sheer frustration, end up tearing their real grass putting surface out. Our greens need no watering, mowing, or fertilizing.
